Ages and Stages

In partnership with Metro United Way, PPC hosts a group for the Ages and Stages Program.  This program focuses on the developmental needs of toddlers.  Currently, a group of parents and toddlers meet biweekly on Fridays for a “Mother’s Day In” program where PPC provides a lunch and a coordinator of the program leads the group in networking conversation and educational/developmental tips for the toddlers.

Back to School Supplies

This program takes donations given by our supporters and assures that all children/youth have the basic needs to begin a school year successfully.  We attempt to hit the highlights of the schools’ supply lists along with uniform and clothing needs.

Block Parties

At least once a year, PPC sponsors a Block Party held at Boone’s Park or on grounds as a community socialization and information time.  Free food booths, games, face painting and information booths are set up along with a DJ.  A fun time for all!!!

Breakfast with Santa

PPC staff and volunteers provide a Saturday where community families can make reservations to come to the center and have a free pancakes and sausage breakfast, get a picture with Santa and leave with some treats.

Christmas Store/Party

CHRISTMAS STORE A store set up by the staff with donations of items that children can select for their parents/guardians for Christmas. CHRISTMAS PARTIES CHILDREN’S- The past two years, the K-5 classes have attended a party held at Southeast Christian Church. Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the PPC staff along with volunteers, set-up, cook and serve a free Thanksgiving Dinner for the community. All are welcomed!!  We usually serve at least 350 people.

Easter Egg Hunt

PPC staff and volunteers organize an Easter Egg hunt on center grounds for the Portland Community.  Families make reservations to attend.  Snacks are provided along with pictures with the Easter Bunny.  Groups of children attend to hear the Easter story and participate in the egg hunt.

Health Clinics

TOUCHED TWICE HEALTH CLINIC Through the UMC Good Samaritan Grant and volunteers of various professionals, we will hold a Health clinic that will involve Doctors, Nurses, Heath Screening mobile units, hair stylists, dieticians and other health related specialist.  Community members will sign in and be partnered with a volunteer who will accompany them and walk them through the process of various needed health screenings.

Kid’s Café

In partnership with Dare to Care, PPC provides a hot supper Monday through Fridays from 4:30-6:30 to all children toddler to 18 years of age in the community.

Trunk or Treat

An evening where volunteers bring a vehicle to the PPC grounds, decorate it to a “Book Theme”, and bring bags of candy to participate in a trunk or treat for the community. Free food booths are set up and the children, upon sign-in, receive a card that gets stamped at each vehicle.  They turn the card in at the end to receive a free book!!!
