We value genuine faith-filled relationships that connect people with one another and with God.
Therefore, we desire to address the felt needs of the whole person – spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and economic.
This value calls us to be a multi-cultural community of faith that works together to overcome the racial, economic and cultural barriers that separate people and destroys community life. Programs and strategies that derive from this core value are referred to as our Spiritual Development Programs offered through our Community of Faith.
We value servant leadership.
Upward mobility and suburban migration have left a leadership vacuum in our urban neighborhood. The single most important component for successful community development is generating an abundance of godly, servant leaders who
live in the community being developed. Programs and strategies that derive from this core value are referred to as our Leadership Development Programs offered through the Learning Center.
We value authentic community.
As a Christian Community Development Organization, the Portland Promise Center seeks to address community development on three levels: Advocate, Sponsor and Developer. Programs and strategies that derive from this core value
are referred to as our Community Development Programs.
As ADVOCATE we understand transformative change will occur naturally from the ground up, therefore we seek to come alongside
our fellow neighbors to bolster their efforts and echo their concerns. We pursue our community development initiative with passionate patience – diligently working with our neighbors to see our shared dreams fulfilled in due time.
As SPONSOR we understand reinvestment in a community of decline will take multiple partners and collaboration between service
providers. Therefore we seek to establish meaningful relationships with developers whom we deem have the best interest of our
community in mind.
As DEVELOPER the Portland Promise Center will use our leadership skills plus our financial and volunteer
resources to meet needs in the Portland community by actively addressing systemic change.
